This Privacy Policy explains how Jose Atencio Jimenez ("I," "me," or "this site") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit joseatencio.com (the "Site"). I built this site myself and take your privacy seriously — this policy is written in plain language on purpose.

Information I Collect

Information you provide directly

When you use the contact form, I collect the name, email address, and message you submit. This is sent via Formspree and used solely to respond to your inquiry — it is never sold or used for marketing without your explicit consent.

Information collected automatically

If you accept cookies via the banner shown on your first visit, this Site uses the following tools to understand how visitors use it:

• Google Analytics 4 — page views, general location (city/country level, derived from IP), device and browser type, and referral source.
• Google Tag Manager — a tag-management layer used to load the tools listed here; it does not collect additional data on its own.
• Hotjar — anonymized session behavior (clicks, scrolling, page interactions) and, if enabled, heatmaps. Hotjar is configured to mask form field input.

None of these tools load until you click "Accept" on the cookie banner. If you click "Decline," or close the banner without choosing, none of them load and no analytics cookies are set.

Data Retention

Contact form submissions are retained as long as needed to respond to and follow up on your inquiry. Analytics data is retained according to each provider's default retention settings (Google Analytics: 14 months; Hotjar: up to 12 months).

Data Security

This Site is served over HTTPS. Contact form data is transmitted securely via Formspree. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but reasonable measures are taken to protect information.

Children's Privacy

This Site is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

International Data Transfers

Because this Site uses US-based services (Google, Hotjar, Vercel, Formspree), your information may be processed outside your country of residence, including in the United States.
